Helpful Planning Links
Sunset - this site will tell
you when the sun sets the day of your wedding, which could help you
greatly in planning an outdoor ceremony or a dancing reception.
You don't want the dancing to start until at LEAST sunset for
maximum boogie.
Shoes - wedding shoes can be
gloriously cut but horrifically uncomfortable. Get an
alternative pair to wear outside for pictures and to change into
when your feet just can't take it anymore! Check out
Okabashi for USA made wedding
flip-flops.
Eco-friendly Beverage Containers -
for beer, wine, signature drinks. . . if you want more
conscience-friendly disposables get these! They're made with
corn plastic so no petroleum goes into them. We recommend 2 x
number of guests for beer, 2 x number of guests for wine, and 2 x
number of guests for a signature drink. Signature drinks can
be served in the same size cup as beer or wine depending on what
you're serving. For instance, we recommend a 12 oz. cup for
Rum & Cokes when you factor in the ice.
Spokane Arena - it can be
helpful to know whether there is a Chiefs or Shock game the night of
your event. Games generally start at 7, so if your
guests arrive at 6 they'll get the metered street parking (only
.40/hour until 7pm, M-Sat.) If they're arriving after 6:30 or
so they may have to pay event parking at the Arena ($5) or use our
gravel parking lot behind the building (a flight of open-grate
stairs to the door.)

This is where a friend got all her little organza bags for her
wedding favors.
save-on-crafts.com - a great
resource for the little bags and other favor-ish items. Try
not to go wild!

I've never
shopped here, but they have a lot of fun looking stuff, including
bride and groom bottle koozies.
Flowers by Mary Lynne - I found
this site and it sparked some fun ideas for me. She uses wire
and jewelry to make more interesting corsages and boutonnieres.
Try shopping the thrift stores for vintage costume jewelry, or if
you're crafty make your own beaded bracelets for the florist to
attach mom & grandma's corsages to. Then, when the flowers are
long gone, they'll still have a lovely keepsake of your beautiful
day. Worried about grandma being able to fasten her
bracelet-corsage? Consider using a
magnetic clasp.
Make-Up for
Photographs - One of the few splurges I whole-heartedly
recommend is getting your make-up professionally done. It will
look as great at the end of the night as at the beginning, and the
pros know how to make you gorgeous for both the reality of the day
and the photographs (which will become the reality!)
The Make-Up Studio is one great
resource but Spokane also has several artists who will meet you at a
hotel or home. If you are going to do your own here is a
website with some great tips:
Hair & Make Up By Steph
(unfortunately she's in Utah so you will have a hard time using her
personally.)
INPRO -
our networking group site, containing information on many local
vendors who are all in good standing with the Better Business
Bureau. Again, we cannot vouch for these vendors or their
services. It is still up to you to make wise decisions about
who you choose to involve in your day. Remember to check out
our Recommended Vendor List.
